Webmasters: Useful tips
Given below are some useful tips that may help you build your own site related to anything.
The first and most important thing in web-designing is a host. If you don't have a host, you don't have a website. Its as simple as that. Some good hosts for starters are Geocities.com, Angelfire.com, Freeserve. For advanced users, Freewebsites, 50Megs.com, will be useful.
Next important is basic HTML knowledge. You need to know atleast basic HTML to have a good site, but if you just want a site for fun and don't mean to get popular over the Net, Geocities would be good becuase they have their own page-builder.
Then comes the real web-making. You need to have good amount of content. Whether its original or not doesn't matter. You can just have one section and then go on adding content until you feel that its enough. If you just have one section saying about the different stages of Super saiyan, that won't be enough. You have to get some ideas of your own, or if you don't want to think, you visit other good sites and see what they have that you don't. Take their idea, put it in your own words and you got some content.
Sometimes its important to have some graphics for the site. If its just too plain without any graphics, the site will seem boring. You can just start off without any graphics and then go on improving the site adding more and more graphics. Content and graphics are too main components of your web-page.
Next comes the layout. Be as original to your layout as you can be. Don't ever steal another sites layout and even if you do, put a credit to that site on your site. If your layout is good and impresses the visitor, then you will get more and more visitors gradually.
Try to impress the visitor with good language and good content and all that you think that they will like. Try to think from a visitor's point of view. If I were a visitor, what would I want on a site. That's another thing that will get you more hits.
In another point of view, web-making is not always for hits and competition. Its just another way of expressin your fandom. There are some sites that are really good on the Web, but they don't care about hits. All they care is if their site is doing good and the visitor likes it.
Try some surprises. Surprise the visitor by adding some content or doing a rapid layout change. A visitor will always like a change in layout.
If a vistor calls your site gay or something, don't retort. Just ignore him or thank him for his point of view. This always encourages the webmaster to improve his/her site though sometimes it can be discouraging too. But don't be heart-broken, continue with your site no matter what others say. Think it like this- Its my site and i do it how I like it. I didn't ask for you to compare my site or rate my site. But sometimes, you have to bend this rule too.
If you want youur site to be popular, advertise your site in any forums that you may have joined. This always gains some visitors, but not that much. Submit your site to search engines like Google, Yahoo, Lycos, MSN and AOL. These are some of the most popular search-engines. You can submit to all these search engines through Add-Me.com. This takes a lot of patience, but its worth the wait.
Join topsites and vote for yourself as much as you can. But don't ever force-vote a visitor into your site. this gives the site only a bad remark.
Join sites that give you free hits like Adexit.com and NoMoreHits.com. These are sites that lead visitors to your site for no fee, but this doesn't have much effect on your stats.
Buy a domain name for your site after one year or so. This always gets more visitors to your site. People often think of only dbzu.com and won't think of dbzu.b0x.com. Living forver under a sub-domain can be a real problem and disadvantage to your site.
Try to affiliate with a lot of sites, but if you join them just for hits, it won't be pretty and you won't be accepted. Just affiliate for friendship and partnership only and not for hits.
And finally one last advice- Learn from other sites, but never compare your site to another site. However good they might be, try, try, try again and never give up.
