Neo: What is your name?Brock: Eric Stuart
Neo: How did you fall into dubbing, did you want to do this as a child?
Brock: I worked in a recording studio fresh out of school (I am a musician) and
ended up directing and producing voice over commercials. I soon found myself on
the other side of the mic. I was asked to audition for a series called Slayers.
I got the lead male role of Gourry and the rest is history.
Neo: What animes have you done?
Brock: Oh boy, I have done a bunch, let's see - 5 seasons of Pokemon including
all four movies. Four seasons of Slayers. This is Greenwood, Grappler Baki,
Poltergeist Report, Art Of Fighting, Labyrinth Of Flames, ... I think ther are
more but I can't remember.
Neo: Is it hard to work for animes?
Brock: Not really. I think it's a lot of fun. You have to be good at it. Keep
the voice consistent and match the flap but those of us who have been doing this
for a while have a blast doing it.
Neo: If someone wanted to dubb animes what would you tell them?
Brock: Get an honest opinion regarding you voice talent from a professional. If
you get good feedback make a demo reel and send it around to the production
houses that produce the amimae. A nice card as follow up is good. Phone calls
are annoying. Remember, there are a lot of people trying to get into this
market. Very few do and even fewer make money at it. Be prepared for a tough
battle.
Neo: what do you think about your role as an over obsessive girl lover?
Brock: To tell you the truth, I am a lot more like Brock in real life than
James. He reminds me of how I was in high school (except I had girlfriends!) He
is harmless. Just a love-sick puppy dog. Hopefully he doesn't offend anyone.
Neo: I must say thanks, the anime community and I appreciate this
Brock: Thank you for asking.
