PARASITES on the NET
• Welcome to the "PARASITES" section. IF YOU HAVE A WARNING MESSAGE ABOVE THIS ARTICLE READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION. So what the hell is a parasite (if you have a list of them above this message you got um on your PC right now)? Haha well its exactly what what it sounds like, a Parasite. By definition it means "One who habitually takes advantage of the generosity of others without making any useful return" and yes that is pretty much what it is. In internet terms it is deemed “unsolicited commercial software” Though i like to call it “unsolicited commercial spyware”. It a sense this is more like sypware but worse.
Whats the big deal:::::
- - Parasites add advertising links to web pages, for which the webmaster does not get paid for and on top of that it redirect the payments from "affiliate-fee" schemes to the ownerss of the software
- - Tracks everything and everywhere you go on the internet and send this PRIVATE yes PRIVATE information back to marketing companies so they can do the following
1. SPAM you and everyone in your adress book
2. send you dreadful unwanted Advertising (adware)
3. Send you email from NOWHERE (SPAM)
- - I also sets browser home page and search settings to point to the scripters’ sites, and prevent you from reverting to your regular HOMEPAGE. Good example is Xupiter or Gator.
- - AOL OR Dial up people listen up Parasites can make your modem call premium(pay)-rate phone numbers without you knowing.
- - WARNING !! Parasites can leave Large security holes allowing the makers of the script or EXPERIENCED hackers ability to download and run software and/or Arbitrary codes or commands on your Computer.
- - And the ever popular degrading of system performance, slows your PC to a turtles pace and cause multiple errors because these scripts are usualy poorly done.
- - And as you expect they usualy provide no uninstall feature, and put its code in unexpected and hidden place to make it difficult to COMPLETELY remove ALL of the components. Which is bad, they give you a false sense that there script is removed but they hide it in Registry folders that STILL allow them to collect data and sometimes even UPDATE itself when you return to a page that has the plug-in or script.
