More on YTV and OCEAN
Here is the Email I received:
I have a crap load of info for you! and its not all good. As for when the eps will stop, there are exactly 5 weeks left, so the last episode would be on December 20th. It might end later because YTV is notorious for having Christmas specials that interrupt a lot of the regularly scheduled programming, but if there are no interruptions they should end on that date.
First of all, I have to say this will be a long email because i must rant and get a lot off my chest. I will start with the good things about the Ocean Group dub since there aren't many, and the music i am indifferent to. The only good thing is the acting and voices I love the actors and the voices, (i would send you some clips but i don't have a video capture card) although i will never quite get used to the new Goku, he's voiced by the guy that does Scott Summers/Cyclops on X-Men Evolution. That's where the good things end, here come the bad things. OG (ocean group) was known for its terrible censoring, and sadly still is. So much is taken out of the eps and a lot is changed. It all started to go wrong around the Cell games, OG just cant face the fact that people actually die in this show! e.g.. when Trunks was blasted by Cell through the chest, he died we all know he did, but when Yamucha was telling Trunks how insane Vejita went in the FUNi version he told him it was because Cell had killed him in the OG it was because he saw how Cell had "hurt" him! WHAT! hurt him, he died no one could survive something like that! and when Cell told the Cell Juniors that they could kill the fighters, in the OG version Cell said you can "destroy" them now.
Next was when Goku was with King Kai, and the West Kai says "you really are dead" in the OG version they replace dead with GONE!!! even when all the kais sing that jingle about him being dead, dead is again replaced with gone! at the other world tournament when the announcer is explaining the rules OG completely cuts out the part where he says "and you cant kill you opponent because they are already dead".
At the martial arts tournament when Goku says "Im dead just back for the day" i killed my self laughing, OG made him say "im from other world" which although is true its not as funny and they are avoiding the whole death thing again. When the announcer explains the rules he says you loose if you, give up, land outside the ring, ect and if you kill your opponent OG makes him say if you "HURT" your opponent! what the hell is that all about the match would be over in a second if that were the case. What else... they cut out a shit load from the episode "Videl is Crushed" like the part when Supopovitch (mind the spelling) steps on Videl's head, that part made me so angry especially when she started to cry, it really made me hate him, OG however did this, they made it look like he was about to
step on her head when Yamu tells him to stop!!! WTF, they took out all the emotion! even though they still censor all this they still keep in a lot of the blood, which is a small plus, i would have more to complain about but im writing this after Videl is Crushed was shown, episode 203 airs tomorrow, i have no idea how they are going to butcher future episodes especially the one where Vejita blows up the stadium, they will probably come up with some bullshit idea as to how they escaped (look i can see their parachutes) *shakes head*. Well that's my rant hope you enjoyed it, just two more things. One:OG censors stop this unneeded bullshiting, the youth of this generation are not stupid, 8 year olds know when someone is dead, stop trying to cover up and sugar coat the obvious, kids are not that impressionable so stop insulting our intelligence!! Two: People over there in the US stop bitching about how bad the dub is I have seen the US dub and what they call uncensored is awesome you get to hear them say kill, dead and die every minute, even though the original is and always will be better you should not complain because if you want a bad dub come to Canada and well give you a bad dub, we will give you a friendly non threatening Dragonball Z where no one really dies they just get hurt.
