Infogrames/FUNi/Legacy
This isnt exactly an organized Editorial, so I am just going to rant about how I feel. Also at the bottom you can find an update on my status and ongoing projects.
Now imagine my surprise. A long time ago when the official Infogrames DragonballZ forum was thriving with people inquiring about the Dragonball game hopelessly and doing nothing but trying to help Infogrames with ideas, I loved the place. But, one day I just got tired of the hopeless dreaming that every DBZ fan is doing towards the DBZ Games. I am going to say now that they will suck and they do suck. I am not being biased and I am not just speculating, I am going by footage and details I have seen and read with my own eyes. The Game Boy Advance version is a weak attempt at a Final Fantasy type game supposedly. As if we didn't have enough of those on the SNES and NES with DBZ Card-based RPG and the such. Then we have the "PS2/PC" version which has Cel-Graphics and the absolute worst animation and design I have EEVER seen in my entire life. Truth is, I'd rather play the "last generation" DBZ games that are already out or especially something like Bid For Power.
Being pesimistic? No.
Being Real? Yes.

Anyway, the point is I laid my username at the official Infogrames DBZ Forum to rest and swore I'd never post on Infograme's cursed forum again. Imagine my surprise as I get on today and hear that since Infogrames has the license, they felt they needed to stop the production of Bid for Power. From a business stand point this is both good and bad. Why? Because BFP was the DBZ community's ultimate fanboy/girl attraction and if it were to be released who in there right mind would spend $50 on a DBZ game from the worst developer of all-time, good ole' WizardWorks? NOBODY! People would rush to the stores and instead spend..what...$30 for Quake 3? And then just simply download the mod which was GREAT! Now that they have eliminated BFP they have no competition because every other significant mod will probably close before they get any closer to releasing. This is a BAD thing for them because MANY angry fans will simply ignore them and not support their products because of their tyranny.
I feel sorry for the BFP staff doing all that work, just to have those snot-nosed tyrants FUNimation shut them down. It's all about money though, you KNOW that people will buy the WizardWorks DBZ game's no matter how much they suck. Why? Because all they have to do is put Son Goku's face on the box and 3 million little kids will rush to the stores and buy it.
(Note: BUT, BFP was only given a cease and desist, they have
NOT been shut down and HAVE NOT BEEN CANCELLED...yet.)
SSJ4Gojita can no longer rest after this day...Infogrames has made me roll over in my grave. What a sad day for the DBZ community, this isn't just about a mod. This takes away from the freedom of the DBZ fan to express his love for his favorite anime.
What's next?
They've already attacked VCD retailers, FanSubbers, Domain-Name owners, now mods... Once FUNimation even tried to tell people that if they had a DBZ character's name in their domain then their site would either be closed or given in full to them as FUNimation property. Pretty soon people will get tired of their crap and just stop caring. They need to focus on putting some freaking new episodes on TV instead of worrying about fansites.
So how can we fight such a power? Easy...you can't! So may as well quit whining! I had to get all this off my chest because I've been following this for so long and have so much built up anger even back from the days when BANDAI had the DBZ License. Anyway, FUNimation has the license and there is nothing anybody can do about it ACCEPT FUNIMATION. Sending hateful emails and letters just tells them that the community is immature anyway and they won't want to change. Doing nothing will make them think that what they're doing is the right thing so they won't want to change. And trying to defy them will work for a little while, but it'll lead to lawsuits and they won't want to change. Petitions more then likely won't do it, unless you could get almost every DBZ fan to sign it..and that ain't gonna happen. Sites all about how much you hate FUNi won't do it, as a matter of fact it makes things worse.
The saddest part about this is...THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO!
But, we can continue to tell them what we think in a civilized way that shows the DBZ community isn't just a rabid bunch of immature kids. I'm asking everyone to use the DBZGTLegacy forums to talk about Infogrames, WizardWorks, and Bid For Power. As a wise man once said:
"UNITED WE STAND....DIVIDED WE FALL"
And right now the DBZ community is falling...not just because of this, but...that's a subject for an editorial.
---------
Now that is off my chest I can say that I've gotten some things ready for the site. Some of you may already know that I've written the japanese lyrics to "Saikyou no Fusion" (The Strongest Fusion) which is SSJGojita's theme from movie 12! I will be uploading the song for you all to hear as soon as I find somewhere to put the file. Also, the Chrono Trigger feature for the games section is on hold just until I can get some work done on the new site. As many of you know, a new spawn of DBZGTLegacy.com has come up called "Anime War," well I'm the father of the Gundam section. So as I turn my attention, keep the questions and suggestions coming! I am also looking for a staff of 2 or 3 for the Gundam section over their, email applications to me, but that's off subject so until next time...signing off
SSJ4Gojita,
Peace everybody!

Final Note: The opinions expressed in this "rant" are not necessarily the opinions of DBZGTLegacy.com or the rest of it's staff. In fact, no one should take responsibility for this outburst except FUNimation themselves because the DBZ Community needs to speak out, and it seems for the most part we aren't being heard.
