The Hyperbolic Time Chamber
Most other dragonball Z fan sites have this section, telling you what it is, and all that crap, how it works, and what it does. Well welcome to the CDN version of this
page. We're going to do the exact same thing as the other sites, but since we're too lazy to copy & paste from some other site, we'll have to type it all out. First
or all, the Hyperbolic time chamber is not a "room" per say, and it is not a "chamber", which is the same thing as a room, except in fancier terms. The hyperbolic time
chamber is in fact a different dimension. Yes, it is said in dragonball z that it is in fact a different world, which is only connected to the present dimension through
one door which is at Kami's lookout. Of course there were more doors made later on in the series, but they were only temporary holes that only lasted a few seconds. I
will get more into those later on in the explanation.
Do you want to know what...it...is?
As Morpheus said in the matrix, i will tell you exactly what the matrix is, the matrix is everything around us, it is the air that you breathe, the food that you eat
it is everything and anything that you've ever experienced, it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. What truth you ask, the
truth that reveals to you that for the past few sentences I've been totally off topic. Anyway, back to the point. The Hyperbolic time chamber is in fact another dimension
as said above, but it is more then that. You see, it is not like any other dimension. It is just a void, an endless void, which is white all around for as far as you
can or cannot see. There is only one official entrance and exit, for argument sakes we'll call this there center of the dimension. Since we don't know any better. Anyway
in this dimension, the time passes slower. It is about 1 year - 1 day in our dimension. Which means that for every year that you are in there, only 1 day will pass by
on earth. So if someone were to go in, your best friend lets say. You would sit outside the door for one day, and when they come out, they will be 1 year older. This
is a great place to speed up the aging process, but it is also a great way to get stronger in a really quick amount of time.
What is it used for
Well as i left the last paragraph, in dragonball z it is used for training mostly. However it can be used as a place to hold people captive. As in the Buu saga when
Gotenks was meant to fight against Majin Buu in there. This is where we get into those temporary doorways that were created. You see in the Buu saga, it was discovered
that if you project your voice in a loud enough manner, that it will literally rip a hole in the dimension, and lead you back to earth, but depending on how strong your
voice is how long the hole will stay open. It took Gotenks the power of a super saiyan 3 to open the hole, which only lasted for a few short seconds. The time chamber
is used for training in dragonball also, but it comes with Rules. You see you can only go in there for 2 years. Meaning that you can only be in there for 2 days - earth time.
Goku went in there when he was a child, but he could not survive the extremely harsh conditions, and therefore left before he was in there for the full year. He went
back in when he was an adult however, and stayed in the entire year.
How does it work
The hyperbolic time chamber, or the room of spirit and time, as it is so often called, works in strange ways. Some of the things we know about it are that from the center,
which i mentioned above was the entrance. Now don't quote me on it, i only said it because i had to establish something in this editorial, but anyway, from the entrance point
leading outward, the gravity steadily increases. Meaning that there gravity is different the further you get from the center. The white void also changed randomly to imitate
harsh weather conditions, like snow storms, and blizzards, and all that. There is always a year's supply of food and drink in there for you, there is a bath-tub, and
a bed to sleep on, and only 2 people can go in at one time.
