Honey

Graphics: 3
Don't say a word. You know why this movie got a pathetic rating in graphics, because it didn't use any computer generated effects. Nothing at all. The movie was made to portray a true story, not some fictional action, drama. If this was made to portray a real life story, then why would you need to use special effects in a real life story, you tell me that. Obviously there were some things in the movie that special effects were used for, like makeup, and various editing here, and there. Which is why it got at least some points in this category, but other then that, this movie isn't too heavily based on graphics. Not much else to say on this topic, other then if you don't like it, ask yourself as stated above, why would you need special effects for a "real-life situation" kind of film?

Sound: 9
Obviously this movie was heavily based on sound, and even though it was rap, and hip hop. It is still music. And what may seem totally pathetic in ones eyes, it beautiful in another's eyes. Now this reviewer used to hate rap all his life, but after watching this movie, this reviewer has changed his opinions on some of the things involving the entire rap community. Obviously this review can't be prejudice based on the personal opinions and beliefs of the reviewer, so therefor the movie deserves a great rating for the sound aspect, because sound was used quite fluently, and tied together very professionally in the movie. They had some unique tracks, and then again they used some previously made tracks, the sound mixed in with the graphics made this movie a must see. The sheer creativity of the movie just comes to life, and you realize how much time and effort was put forth into making such a film.

Story: 8.5
Now this movie had an amazing story. There were actually many stories being delivered to you in this movie, and they all had their values and points. Now with so many stories being delivered to you at such an amazing and clear level, where they all tie together, and you won't even realize that there are separate stories until you actually stop to think about it, it just gives this movie an amazing rating for the story section. And believe me, it is hard to get high ratings in this section of the review. Not too many movies out there can do what this movie did. It combined the dreams of one woman, and showing you how you can make it on your own, with the belief that everyone deserves a chance, even those on the street.

Value: 5.5
This movie was crystal clear, there was nothing confusing about it. Although you might want to watch it again just to see some of the cool break-dancing moves in it. Other then that the only other reason would probably to just see Jessica Alba act. Other then that this movie isn't worth watching 2 times in a row. For the same reason as stated in other reviews. The movie is great the first time you watch it, but just isn't one of those movies that would be the same if you watched it again. Watching this movie again would just ruin the entire experience.

Acting: 8.5
The acting in this movie breaks down into 3 categories. Main character, who might i add did a great job in acting seeing as this actor is fairly new to the movie business. The minor characters, who also did a great job acting. Not only because they were kids, but some of the adults also did a great job. There were a few here and there that didn't do so great. But the movie is obviously not going to be perfect. Everyone did their job. Now the unique thing about the acting in this movie, is that i noticed in one shoot they actually took it in real life. Meaning that they walked down the street, and i could tell from the way the camera was moving, and the surrounding sounds, and background actors, that it was an actual "street" scene. It is quite obvious, and if you do indeed choose to watch this movie, then you should look out for that, it's quite neat.

Finishing Statement: Overall Rating: 6.9
Very nice movie, i actually didn't really want to watch this movie, but when i went to the theatre in search of some movies to watch so i could review them, there was nothing else on so i decided, ah what the heck i might as well watch this one, and it actually turned out better then I'd expected. Most people say that this movie could have been better, and i agree. But then again come on, the only reason that it received such low scores on most of the reviews all over the Internet is because of all the technicalities that were misplaced. But setting all the technicalities aside, if you just pay attention to the movie, and the message that it's trying to get across to you you'll see that it really isn't such a bad movie to watch. The overall rating given above is a general average of all the other scores put together. But if it were up to me I'd have given the movie a much better rating.
