Right when Android 17 is about to finish Piccolo off Cell arrives on the scene, and he explains to the androids that he is supposed to absorb them to become perfect. And since they were already killed in the future by Trunks, he has no one to absorb. So he came back to absorb them, Android 17 tries to put up a fight but cell gets to him and absorbs him. He transforms and his power raises dramatically. Tien shows up on the scene and he holds Cell back with his Tri-Beam while the others get a chance to escape so that Cell can't absorb android 18 and become perfect. At the same time Goku finally recovers and he goes and gets Gohan and Vegeta, along with trunks and he tells them of a place where they can get a year's worth of training in one day. It is the hyperbolic time chamber, if you want more information about what it is then feel free to read our section on what it is.

Vegeta and trunks go in first, and when they are in there they will be in there for a year, but outside of the chamber back in this world only 1 day would have passed. So they go in and the door closes. They begin to train, while Cell is still rampaging all around the world beneath, Goku and Gohan wait patiently outside the door for Vegeta and Trunks to finish, since only 2 people can go in at a time. Cell rampages throughout the world looking for android 18 who couldn't have gotten far because she was with android 16 who was injured when he tried to defend 18 from Cell. Krillin goes to bulma's to get a special remote that will deactivate android 18 and make her useless to cell. When he gets the remote he finally goes to find her and deactivate her, but he can't get the memory of her kissing him and flying away earlier out of his head.

Vegeta and Trunks finally finish their training and only a day had passed on earth. So Vegeta flies off into the direction of Cell at amazing speed. Goku and Gohan go into the chamber. When Vegeta comes and finds cell, Trunks also arrives at the scene, and Vegeta explains that if he somehow manages to get past his that Trunks is there also, except not quite as strong. Vegeta displays amazing speed, and power. He totally makes a fool out of cell, and annihilates him in every way. But cell knows Saiyans, they do make up part of his body from saiyan cells. So he gets Vegeta on the pride level, and he tells him where is the honor is defeating something so weak, he makes Vegeta want to let him absorb android 18. so that Vegeta could get a challenge, and being the saiyan that he is Vegeta allows Cell to go and absorb android 18. Krillin arrives on the scene and is about to deactivate android 18 but the internal struggle is too much, and he doesn't deactivate her. He instead destroys the remote control, and tells her to run, but it's too late Cell is already coming to absorb her, even when trunks gets in the way to stop him Vegeta takes care of trunks, and lets Cell go and absorb his android.

Cell spots android 18 just below with Krillin right beside her, along with android 16, and he flies down and absorbs her. After he transforms into his perfect form, he seems more sleek, and muscular, much more human, and in control of his power, there is a rematch between Vegeta, and Cell but this time Vegeta gets obliterated. So he unleashes his most devastating Ki attack on Cell and dares him to block the attack. The beam is the size of half the earth, and seen from space it is literally the size of half the earth. Cell tries to block it but gets the top of his body blasted off. Vegeta laughs in victory, but Cell regenerates, and reminds him that he has Piccolo's cells in him, and that he can regenerate. Vegeta then gets taken out and knocked out. Trunks steps in and turns into an ultimate super saiyan which is a bulky and muscular form. He takes out Cell and ascends him in strength, but not in speed, therefore Cell is still the superior. But Cell lets trunks live because he wants him to tell the others about a tournament that he will be having in 1 week.

So Trunks and Krillin along with Android 16 go back and as android 16 gets repaired Cell goes and breaks into a TV news station and announces to the world that there will be a world martial arts tournament being held called the Cell Games. It will take place 1 week from the present, and all the fighters in the world are challenged to go there. They will all be competing against Cell, and whoever can defeat Cell will be the winner of the Cell Games. During this week Goku and Gohan finish their training in the time chamber, Vegeta and trunks go in one more time, along with Piccolo. Android 16 is repaired, and back to normal. And with the remainder of the time Goku Gohan and Krillin all just lay around and enjoy themselves. Goku goes to Namek and gets dende and brings him back so that he can become the new guardian of the earth now that Kami is gone, Dende makes a new dragon, and it is a bit more powerful then the old dragon since now it is able to grant 2 wishes instead of one. When the day of the Cell Games arrives all the fighters arrive at the ring, and await the announcement to start. The world's hero Mr Satan arrives. and gets knocked out of the ring with 1 shot from Cell. Goku makes an untraditional move and goes next. As the second battle in the tournament Goku is already starting the fight. Cell and Goku toy around a bit, and test each other out, and find that they are even

So Cell finally gets mad and destroys the ring, and says that they fight to the death, But after they fight for a bit, Cell notices that Goku is running out of energy, and suggests that he take a senzu bean, but Goku backs down and says that he is defeated, and Cell won the battle, he says that he is unable to defeat Cell and so there is no point in trying. He then sends Gohan out to fight with Cell. Everyone is shocked because Gohan is not that powerful, and they don't know why Goku would put his own son's life on the line like this. But while Gohan is out there getting annihilated, Goku explains that Gohan has always had a secret hidden power, and that while they were in the time chamber he say this power, and that he wants Gohan to use this power to defeat Cell. But Gohan is still getting annihilated, and while he is out there he finally realizes why he is out there, and he explains to Cell that when he gets angry he has a hidden power that comes out and he is unable to control it. Cell is intrigued by this hidden power and the saiyan Cells in him push forward to see this hidden power, so he spawns a bunch of little cell juniors which are basically little mini blue forms of him and he sends them out to take out the z fighters.

Vegeta and trunks are the only ones who can defend themselves, but the rest of the z fighters get annihilated, and their suffering makes Gohan get angry, and finally when android 16 tries to talk to Gohan, Cell comes over and steps on his head, totally destroying him. This makes Gohan crack and his hidden power comes out. He turns into a super saiyan 2 and totally smokes Cell like no one has ever seen before. He makes cell suffer. He also takes out all the Cell Jr with 1 hit, and gives all the z fighters a senzu bean. He then annihilates cell so much that Cell spits out android 18. He then reverts back to his 2nd form, and not he is weak enough that even Vegeta can easily take him out. So he seen almost no options but to self destruct, so he grows all fat and says that in 60 seconds the planet, and him will explode and everyone will be taken out with him. Goku teleports over to him, and says that the only way to save the planet is to teleport Cell off of it, and so he uses Instant Transmission and teleports Cell to king Kai's planet. When Cell explodes killing Goku King Kai, Bubbles, Gregory, and himself along with the planet.

Back on earth peace is finally restored, as Gohan weeps over the dead of his father, as he blames it on himself, that he should have just finished Cell off instead of pounding him and making him suffer. Suddenly out of nowhere a beam comes and goes right trough Trunks' chest. We see that it is Cell!, but how is he able to come back after he exploded. Cell explains that one of his brain cells survived, and since it remembered what it was like to be in his perfect state, he regenerated into his Perfect state, and now he is stronger then ever, because of the saiyan cells inside of him that make him stronger after every near death experience. After Seeing this Vegeta goes crazy that his Son is dead, and he charges Cell Head-On and shoots a bunch of multi beams at him, But cell is unharmed, and knocks Vegeta out with 1 hit. When he is about to finish Vegeta off with a beam, Gohan jumps in the way, and takes the hit, totally annihilating his arm. Now that he only has 1 arm, Gohan is really weak. Cell gets really mad, and says that he doesn't need this worthless planet, he is tired of everything on his planet, and he is just going to destroy everything so he charges for an ultimate kamehameha.

Gohan with only 1 arm gives up on trying to resist. But all the sudden Goku starts to talk to him in his head, he is talking through King Kai out of heaven. He tells Gohan that he can do it and that he has the power. But Gohan says that he only has 1 arm how is he supposed to defeat Cell. Goku gives him some big motivational speech, and Gohan ends up launching a 1 handed Kamehameha and matching Cell's. During the kamehameha Goku keeps telling Gohan that he can do it, and a bunch of other motivational speeches, and Vegeta sees that this isn't getting anywhere, and the Soon Gohan is going to fail, so he flies overhead cell to distract him, he launches a beam at cell from overhead slightly distracting him from the kamehameha, and at that instant Goku tells Gohan to release all of his power, and when Gohan does he obliterates Cell and every single Cell part of his body, so that he will never be able to regenerate, or come back. Peace is finally restored to earth, and as everyone goes back to Kami's lookout the dragonballs are gathered, and everyone who was killed by Cell is wished back

With the second wish the want to bring Goku back, but he says that he doesn't want to come back since every time he is alive there is always someone who wants to kill him and puts the entire earth in danger. So Goku stays dead, and so they have nothing to wish for, until Krillin wishes for Android 17 and android 18's explosives to be removed. The dragon grants the wish, and therefore the explosives are gone and the androids can't really do anything and so they live their lives out as normal people. The gang says goodbye to each other and go their separate ways.
