Information: Dragonball GT: Black Star Dragonballs
The series of Dragonball GT introduces a new type of Dragonballs called the Black Star Dragonballs. These dragonballs were created long before Kami and Piccolo split. These dragonballs don't look much different from the other types except for the darker or black stars on them. These dragonballs have a higher power than the other types and are almost twice as powerful as the others. The features of these dragonballs are once the wish is granted by the more evil and dark looking Shenron, the dragonballs are scattered all over the universe, not all over the earth, and if not found within one year of the wish, the planet on which the wish was made would blow up or be destroyed into complete oblivion. Very nasty. So the series starts off with Goku being turned into a kid by a wish made by Pilaf and so Trunks, Pan and Goku set off to find the dragonballs. They rescue the earth, but Bebi comes and terrorizes the Earth and then Super Android #17.
Now for a description on what Shenron looks like, Shenron is now more evil and also a bit transparent. He is now also in a reddish color. He now has a very menacing look and is a great deal larger than the Earth's Shenron, but he still looks like Earth's Shenron and not like Namek's dragon, Porunga. The Dragonball GT series is all about these Black Star Dragonballs and the other seven Shenrons, but as usual two other villains torture Earth during the story and Goku has to ascend to an even greater power level than the Super Saiyan 3, a Super Saiyan 4. As you may have noticed, Dragonball was all about the Earth's Dragonballs and Goku's life as he grows to a strong man and also his meeting with many foes and friends. Dragonball Z is all about Goku and the others and how they meet new villains and how they fare against him and in many cases, the Dragonballs with which they could either restore Earth's peace and inhabitants or in some cases, a villain's dream of becoming immortal. Dragonball GT is partly about the black star dragonballs and partly about Goku's new powers and battles and his adventures. So, as you see, in each series, the dragonballs, whether it is the Earth's, Namek's or the Black Star, play a very important role and also occupy part of the series' story.
