Information: History of Dragonball
We all watch Dragonball and its sequel series. But how did it begin? How did it become such a hit in the US as well as the world over? Look no further, the answers to your questions are given below.
Dragonball made its first official appearance in the US in 1993 in the form of a feature movie. Although, it was not such a big success at first due to its show timings, it later became successful with the whole Toonami deal. At first, Dragonball was aired on Cartoon Network, but the producers knew too well that the big picture was not Dragonball, but its sequel series, Dragonball Z. Dragonball Z was aired in Cartoon Network, but it was shown at 5:00 am in the morning and so it was not a big success. Then in 1998, Cartoon Network began Toonami, a programme airing more anime on CN. This however rose Dragonball Z's fame as it had never done before. The Dragonball craze began and is still going on and now they have even planned on creating a live Dragonball movie. But unknown to many, Dragonball and Dragonball Z were not the only series by Akira Toriyama. He had done some other comics like Dragon Boy and Tonpuu's Great Adventure before he began the Dragonball series. It is also from mangas and comics like these that he got the ideas for Dragonball and Z.
Dragonball is also based on an old book called Korney to the West. The book is almost similar to the storyline of Dragonball and it revolves around the life of a young boy just like Goku in the Dragonball Series. If I do get more information on this book, I will be sure to put it up on the site. But this is all the info that I've got.
